Stop Motion Animation Seminar by Thomas Künstler

A stop motion animation seminar with plasteline figures, especially for high school children and people with mild intellectual disability, will be hosted by the director and friend of the Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival, Thomas Kunstler. The seminar will take place in Kalamata, at the 7 th Primary School of Kalamata.

For three days (30/10-1/11) the children, under the guidance of the Italian director, will get hands on experience on the plasteline figure creation process, for the needs of a stop motion animation film. The result of this group effort will be shown to the closing ceremony of the 9 th Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival, on Sunday November 5, in the Th. Angelopoulos amphitheatre, at Aristomenous 95, Kalamata.

 

Brief Resume


Thomas Kunstler was born and raised in Rome. He is an Italian filmmaker and Stop Motion Animator who now lives and works in Athens. He holds a degree in Direction and Documentary Production from the University of Fine Arts of Farnham, UK.

His films have been screened in festivals in Greece and abroad, including Animasyros Film Festival (Syros), Herceg Novi Film Festival (Montenegro), Drama Film Festival (Drama),
Aesthetica Short Film Festival (New York), RTS Student Television Awards (London), winning prizes and special mentions.

A peak moment in his career is his participation in Berlinale Talents 2020.

Additionally, in collaboration with Animasyros or independently, he organizes and coordinates stop motion animation seminars around Greece. The themes of his last films is inspired by the music tradition and culture of Greece. His latest feature length Stop Motion Animation film is “Markos”, currently in production, and his latest Stop Motion Animation short film is “Pink Mountain”, produced by Production House “Studio Bauhaus”.
