Creative Documentary Center

The 9th Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival will be held from October 25th to November 5th, 2023 in nine cities all over Peloponnese (Kalamata, Sparta, Argos, Gythio, Amaliada, Xylokastro, Dimitsana, Filiatra, Akrata). It is organized by the Creative Documentary Center of Kalamata, a non-profit organization.

The program of this year's festival includes 45 international, 22 Greek documentaries, and 18 documentaries for the educational zone.
The festival is being enriched again this year with workshops, seminars, round table discussions, teleconferences, exhibitions and special educational programs aimed at all levels of education.
Until today we have continuous cooperation with the School of Fine Arts of Athens, with the Film School of AUTH, the Theater Studies and Cultural Management department of the University of Peloponnese in Nafplio and Kalamata and with the Ionian University with the departments of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting along with the Audiovisual Arts.
1. For the 5th year, peldocfest will collaborate with the Athens School of Fine Arts and the Film School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and for the 2nd year with the Ionian University. In this context, 10 students from each school will participate in seminars given by the Dutch director Robert Rombout, and the Anglo-Ghanaian Eric Knudsen respectively with the aim of producing 2 modular documentaries. At the same time, 6 film students from the Babeș-Bolyai University of Romania will also attend one of the seminars.
2. 2. SPECIAL Screening of the documentary titled "Musicalement Autre" accompanied by a piano and flute concert by the protagonists of the documentary. The documentary "Musicalment Autre" will be presented for the first time in Greece and it is about the true story of Jean-Pierre Dussert, autistic, schizophrenic and piano virtuoso, and Giorgos Nikolaidis, a professional flautist, that is trying to release him from the institutions he lived in for 27 years. The two artists are the official guests of this year's festival.
3. Conducting two seminars for primary school children and disabled school students.

A) "Environmental Walks". Seminars for elementary and high school students, but also for disabled school students and adults with moderate mental disabilities in the form of a walk, with Stefania Charitou as the lecturer. A Nature Walk is an opportunity to discuss ecology, natural resources, energy and climate change: Audiovisual media can record and interpret parts of reality and thus inform and sensitize the world. Using a mobile phone as a tool, the children in small groups can record pieces of the nature that surrounds us (land, animals, vegetation) and then they can study the relationship between man and Nature. The purpose of the seminar is for the children to reflect on the two-way and binding relationship between the natural environment and humans, at a time when the consequences of the ecological crisis are visible.
B) MICROCOSMOS
An educational activity for school-age children who have the ability to use a phone, tablet or camera.

DESCRIPTION
From the whole to the part, from the big to the small, from the far to the near.
After a short introduction, the children are either divided into groups of two or three and with the active and continuous participation of they can photograph the microcosmos next to them, at their feet, whether it is a plant or a form of life [insect, invertebrate, etc.]
4. Cinematic music seminar
Curated and taught by piano soloist Lola Tochiou
In the context of the 9th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival, we are organizing a different type of music seminar, where the goal is to integrate 4-5 musical ensembles from Kalamata (e.g. duo, trio, quartet) or solo instruments into cinematic music. This year we have the cooperation and participation of the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata, the Kalamata Music School and the music department of the Artistic Center.
5. Hand Made Cinema
Film seminar on the video art form
The alphabet for an essential video art "small, poetic and visual"
Text - Script - Direction
Narration – Image – Sound – Editing – Completion
Four-day 20-hour directing seminar in 6 meetings to delve into very short video art projects with a focus on poetry. It starts from the beginning (selection of texts) to their completion (editing, finishing, promotion) and ends with all their more complicated issues (from the narration to the selection or creation of the image and sound).
The seminar is coordinated by Kyriakos Hatzimichailidis (director, producer and creator of the project "Pnoes". It will take place in Nafplion with the cooperation of the theater department of the University of Peloponnese
6. CONCERT-PERFORMANCES
WHEN REALITY FAILS
What happens when sea urchins rebel and want to change? When the enemy gives up the fight and goes to buy ice cream? When a lady who doesn't know a word of Russian insists and wants to speak it?
When these and many more things happen, a musical is created in the form of an analogy with music and songs by the composer Iraklis Paschalidis who, in addition to composition, loves decomposition.
He himself at the piano and with the actor-singers Christos Stergioglou and Lydia Fotopoulou wander into a reality that stumbles and avoids the expected.
7. ENNIO MORIKONE COMICS EXHIBITION
The general title of the themed comics exhibitions is: Sketching Ennio.

1. "Io, Ennio Morricone" (2021): This is a mini-biography of the maestro made by the comic artist Giannis Antonopoulos. It consists of 10 to 13 images that compose the main stations of Ennio Morricone's life
2. "Ennio the Cinephile" (2022): 26 stand-alone comic works by the same number of artists based on selected films among the leading ones (except Westerns).
4. "Ennio Goes Western" (2023): 25 stand-alone comic books based solely on respective Western films
