18/06-04/07: Kalamata Municipal Railway Park

The second phase of the 7th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival will take place at the Kalamata Municipal Railway Park, from 18th June to 4th July 2021, in the newly reworked venue!

For more than two weeks the audience will be able to watch 58 international and 27 Greek documentaries by notable directors under the stars!

The new program includes 2 seminars, one masterclass, and a comic exhibition. In more detail:

-A seminar titled "Making a Documentary" by Dutch director Robert Rombout will be exclusive for students of the University of Peloponnese (08-18/06).

-A seminar titled "Street Cinema School" by Italian director Tekla Taideli with the participation of students from the Fine Arts School of Athens and locals (22/06-04/07).

-A Masterclass about comics and cinema by renowned artists, Giorgos Botsos and Andrea Bruno (26/06) and

-An international comics exhibition by Greek and International artists.

One more event is added to the list with the book signing of the graphic novel "21: The Battle of the Square" -presented live for the first time- by Soloup, also known as Antonis Nikolopoulos on the first Sunday of the program (20/06).

The ending of the festival will be quite different this year as the 7th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival will collaborate with the cultural program "Cinema in the Station" and will screen the narrative film "Mythopathy" by Tasos Boulmetis. The director will be of course present and will be the one presenting the awards at the ending ceremony on July 4th.

The event "Cinema in the Station" is supported by the Committee "Greece 2021" and OSE (National Railway Company) and it will open four old railway stations to the public, screening films by modern Greek filmmakers. The stations included are in Kalamata, Tripoli, Patras, and Mesologi. Those towns were chosen because of their leading role in the Greek Revolution of 1821.

From 18th June to 28th July in 9 cities of the network

In the same spirit, the screenings will happen in open-air cinemas in the other 9 cities of the Peldocfest network: Sparta, Patras, Gytheion, Ksylokastro, Amaliada, Akrata, Dimitsana, Levidi and Derveni. The full program will be presented by the 28th of July.

The 7th Peldocfest is supported by the Ministry of Culture and is organized by the Creative Documentary Center of Kalamata for the 7th consecutive year. This year it is co-organized by the Regional Government of Western Greece, the municipalities of Kalamata, Ksylokastro-Eurostini, Amaliada and Sparta in collaboration with Pireaus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PBCF), the cultural society "Gimnos Ophthalmos" in Patras, "Eutopia" in Akrata and "Megalo kafe" in Levidi.

Stay tuned for the second installation of the 7th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival!.
