5th Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival

The «5th Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival» will be held from 18 to 27 January 2019 in Kalamata while part of the program will also be hosted in Argos, Sparta, Gythio, Amaliada, Dimitsana, Patra and Pylos. It is organized by the Creative Documentary Center of Kalamata, a nonprofit civil organization.

The great tribute of this year's festival is Gender Equality and it is supported by the Partnership Agreement (PA) 2014-2020 | Reform of the Public Sector.

The program includes 48 international documentaries and 15 Greek, while the educational zone has 22 films

The Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival has dynamically launched its pre-festival events with four very important new collaborations. The collaboration with the Athens School of Fine Arts, where graduate students have already begun their work with the award-winning Dutch film director Robert Rombout with an educational seminar and workshop which will be completed during the Festival by producing short video art about the city of Kalamata.

Τhe collaboration with the General Secretariat for Gender EqualityGender-related Optics in Cinema", in collaboration with the Primary and Secondary Education Directorate. The participating teachers have the opportunity in their didactic work to help pupils reflect on and produce cinematographic works on equality that will be presented at the 5th Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival. Since this year, the General Secretariat for Gender Equality has established 2 awards for documentaries on "Gender Equality"

A substantive collaboration started with the Department of History, Archeology and Cultural Goods Management of the University of Peloponnese, which is actively involved in the work of organizing the festival. Third-year and fourth-year students will undertake a quarterly evaluation of the films and conduct research on the organization of the festival.

The educational section of the festival includes visits to schools in the region with little mobility where there will be screend selected documentary films, while preliminary production seminars will be given to students.
