Current farming methods are not sustainable and indirectly contribute to the increasing number of wildfires. Also, it is difficult for young Europeans to start a farming operation. These reasons pushed Victor to raise his flock in the same way his ancestors did: by living a nomad life. This type of farming has many benefits: it is free, sustainable and contributes to maintain wild areas healthy. But much of the knowledge that has been passed down orally over generations is at risk of being lost as the last shepherds are old and written information is scarce. In addition, Victor faces many challenges: lack of rain, physical and mental exhaustion, loneliness and depression. However, even if he did not choose an easy lifestyle, Victor finds a few powerful reasons to continue with this practice.
