According to the special circumstances of this tough year the 7th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival will take place as an event hybrid between online and physical. There will be many Greek premieres, seminars, conversations and collaboration with schools and fellow festivals.

The online part of the festival will take place from 5 to 14th of February 2021 through the new online platform. This way the films will be reaching every part of Greece, not only the local community that is well aware of the event.

After that, the physical screenings will take place on 7 to 16th of May 2021 including the total length of the program in all of the designated places. Those will include the base of the festival, Kalamata, other places through Peloponnese like Patras, Sparta, Nafplio, Gytheio, Amaliada, Algialia, Argos and Xulokastro.

The online release of the 7th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival in February will include the following films and events:

a) The foreign films of the program

b) 20 films that will be included in this year’s theme “Claiming Freedom”, honouring the 200 years since the Greek Revolution of 1821. Added to the program will be the interviews with the directors of the films that will be conducted by students from the Theater Studies Faculty in Nafplio of University of Peloponnese.

c) Regarding the same theme there will be conducted a round table conversation with the title “War Correspondents - Claiming Freedom today”. In this event there will be international participation of several correspondents and directors, including the Greek-Sweedish journalist Nina Kokeseos-Dominguez and Greek director Nikos Meggrelis.

d)The films of the annual Equality feature.

There’s a new chapter for the festival with a 3-year collaboration with the Zinebi International Film Festival from Bilbao Spain, with this year’s feature about Basque Cinema.

The Greek program will be screened in May. The audience will have the chance to watch all of the films in the theaters of the festival, along with workshops, seminars, round table conversations, e-QnAs, new and exciting collaborations with foreign festivals and exhibitions, like every year.

The Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival is organised for 7 years now by the Creative Documentary Center, under the support of the Greek Ministry of Culture. The festival was created for a certain reason: to get the audience back into the theaters. And it has been really successful in this endeavor as it has created a special relationship between the local community and the creators.

As it is known from previous years all the happenings, screenings etc will be free of charge for the audience.

More details to be announced soon, please stay tuned.
