Creative Documentary Center of Kalamata is broadening their educational horizons with a new Erasmus+ program for young adults 18-30 years old.
A new beginning for Creative Documentary Center is organizing the project DocumAction! that is a youth exchange program funded by the European Learning Programme ERASMUS+ for the development of the European youth. The program involves 7 different countries along with Greece, Croatia, Portugal, Romania, France, Italy and Estonia with 42 participants.
The participants are already exploring the city of Kalamata since the 5th October when they arrived and are taking part in various activities realizing the power of documentary filmmaking. They are going to form teams next, find a theme, a screenplay and shoot their own short documentaries that are going to be presented at the end of the program on the 12th of October.
Through this project, they are going to learn how to work into teams and the basic knowledge as documentary filmmakers such as directing, writing and practical skills in filming and editing. Most importantly they can also discover Kalamata and consider themselves as ambassadors of the city back to their countries.
The Center has been working with educational programs for over 3 years in their facilities and schools all over the Messinian region, with projections and seminars.
Every year over 3000 school-age children visit the morning zone of the Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival. Since December of last year they have established an online platform exclusively for teachers with over 50 films for children of all ages. The films are from the educational library of the Center and they are free for the educators to use. Let's not forget the long collaboration of the Festival with Higher Education as well such as the University of Peloponnese, Athens School of Fine Arts, Auth Film School and a newer collaboration with Ionian University. The students are able to participate every year on seminars and documentary workshops during Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival.
