CO-PRODUCTION INITIATIVE FOR GREEK AND BASQUE FILMMAKERS DURING THE 7TH PELOPONNISOS INTERNATIONAL DOC FILM FESTIVAL
Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival has signed a collaboration agreement with Zinebi Film Festival, from Bilbao Spain. Earlier this year there was an open call towards Basque and Greek filmmakers/producers for the production of a 90-minute segmented documentary. The theme was determined to be the main tribute of the festival “Claiming Freedom”.
The open call towards Greek directors received 18 really interesting screenplays with 3 of them getting chosen for the program. The Spanish initiative is still open and the results will be announced at the end of September.
The 3 screenplays that were chosen for the project are:
1. “Kalavrita-Guernica" by Ismini Sakellaropoulou
2. "Exit In" by George Danopoulos
3. "Maria, the Deafening Orgasm of my Body" by Kalliopi Legaki
The two festivals have agreed to introduce the directors chosen for them to collaborate together. They are also going to attend both festivals. During the 8th Peloponnisos International Doc Film Festival, the directors will present the progress of their work that far to a live audience.
The final segmented documentary will be produced by both festivals, the directors will be co-producers and will have all the rights towards distribution. The festivals will sign a private agreement with every director in which they give them the sales rights. Every director owns 16.6% of the film.
The final film will be presented in both collaborating festivals, Zinebi international Film Festival and Peldocfest along with Faitodoc Festival in Napoli, Italy.
This collaboration will open the way for more international initiatives, promoting Greek directors and their work, giving them even more opportunities for international coproductions.
