7th Peloponnese International Documentary Film Festival
Closing Ceremony and Awards
The 7th Peloponnese International Documentary Film Festival came to a close yesterday, Sunday 4th of July, with great success. The closing ceremony, which was attended by Anna Kalogeropoulou on behalf of the Peloponnese Region, as well as the Mayor of Kalamata, Thanasis Vassilopoulos addressing a greeting, took place at the Kalamata Railway Park. In it, this year's Film Festival Awards were presented to the films that stood out among the International Competition Section:
Jury Prize (Laura Cini, Director, Anne Kjersti Bjørn, Director, Panagiotis Evangelidis, Screenwriter / Director) for Best Equality Documentary:
- Honorable Mention: Ninosca, by Peter Torbiörnsson
- First Prize: Judy versus Capitalism by Mike Hoolboom
Student Award of the University of Peloponnese for the Best Documentary of the "Claiming Freedom" thematic tribute:
Award: Scars, by Agnieszka Zwiefka
Audience Award - Best International Documentary:

and
Photographer of War, by Boris Benjamin Bertram
The Audience Award was given by the director Tassos Boulmetis.
Afterwards, the 8-minute short film by students of the School of Fine Arts was shown, made as part of the Street Cinema,seminar with Tekla Taidelli, followed by the screening of the fiction film, "Mythopathy" by Tassos Boulmetis, which ended the closing ceremony, as part of the cultural program "Station Cinema". The Sponsor of the Action was the Olympic Brewery, while the energy sponsors were OSE and GAIAOSE.
The Sparta Award for Best Greek Documentary will be awarded in Sparta on July 25, while the films of the Festival will be screen at open spaces of the network of the cities of Peloponnese (Sparta, Patras, Gythio, Xylokastro, Amaliada, , Levidi, Derveni until July 28th.
The International Documentary Festival of Peloponnese is organised by the Creative Documentary Centre of Kalamata, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, EKOME and EKK, in co-organisation with the Regions of the Peloponnese and Western Greece, the Municipalities of Kalamata, Spartas, Ilidia and Xylokastro-Evrostini, the Piraeus Group Foundation (Sparta - Dimitsana - Stymfalia), the Art and Culture Association "Naked Eye" & NS Sound (Patra), Gythio Film Club (Gythio), the Social Cooperative Enterprise "Eutopia", DIPEKA (Akrata), "Megali Mantineia - Megalo Kafenio" (Levidi).The communication sponsors are ERT, ERT3, ERT Kalamata and the Parliament Television.
