Happy Independence Day

Happy Independence Day is a film about Helsinki citizens celebrating Finland's Independence Day on December 6, 2021.
The film draws a portrait of the citizens of Helsinki during Finland's Independence Day in 2021. The film follows different groups, such as Antifa, the "let's close the border" torch relay, right-wing extremists, anarchists and Helsinki against the Nazi demonstration, as well as other citizens watching the events on the streets of Helsinki.

Independence Day is the largest police operation of the year in Finland. Children who follow everything comment on events with their own philosophies about Star Wars, religion and humanity in general. The film raises a question about the abstract concept of national identity, why it is important, and why it means such different things to different people. Questions about national identity seem to create divisions in people living in Finland, and at the same time, it seems that children, the citizens of the future, do not understand the concept of national identity in the same way as adults.
