Keywan Karimi (born 21 September 1985) is an Iranian independent filmmaker of Kurdish origin; he now lives and works in France. He was a guest of the 5th Peloponnisos International Documentary Festival with his documentary "Writing on the city, a film about the graffiti in Tehran.
Keywan Karimi began to produce in 2012 and completed in August 2015. This film was edited several times and it has been shown in several film festivals. At the first time after publishing the trailer of the film on YouTube, Karimi was arrested in 2013 by Revolutionary Guard Corps and in October 2015 sentenced by the Islamic Revolutionary Court to six years imprisonment and 223 Lashes for "propagating against the Islamic Republic" and "insulting religious sanctities. The director talks about his film and about his future project, and he also refers to his experience from the festival.
